Race report by David Joos
The first Dutch indoor electric nationals were held over the weekend of 2 and 3 december 2017 at the permanent indoor track of Racing Arena Limburg. This track is situated in Sittard, close to the German and Belgian borders. The race attracted not only Dutch, but also German and Belgian drivers.

The permanent race track is almost constantly used for practices and races. The grip levels are very high. In order to cope better with the high grip, I mounted the aluminium flex chassis on both the stock and modified cars my son, Florian, would be using. Due to his approaching exams, we didn’t test on Saturday and only raced on Sunday.

Race time was only 5 minutes and all the drivers were happy with that!
We were also at a disadvantage for not being able to practice on the Saturday.

In the qualifiers, I tried different things to gain more steering (2.7 spring in the back, 2.6 springs allround, …) but the base setup was best.

Florian managed to get P2 on the grid, behind John Ermen, a former ENS winner, but two places in front of Sidney Blokker, the 2017 Dutch modified champion. The field was a bit uneven and in A1 and A2 Florian got twice taken out while running in P2. He came back stronger and won A3 in front of John, who made an error in the second lap.

For the last final, I used the 2mm topdeck, a 7500 diff and gave more steering throw (I used the T4 2015 servo holder which I adapted to fit the 2018 car).
After his exams we will practice some more with the alu chassis to exploit it’s full potential.

To be honest, we only raced the cars on a meeting and never practiced beforehand, so the results are very encouraging and Florian is extremely happy with his XRAY T4!
